On August 18, Public Record Media (PRM) will host a workshop on Freedom of Information (FOIA) laws at the main branch of the Duluth Public Library in Duluth, Minnesota. The event will take place from 6:00pm-8:00pm, and will be free to the public.
PRM’s board recently approved a public education series that centers on information resources necessary for civic engagement. The series will include overviews of public record laws (PRM’s primary area of focus) but will also encompass education related to historical research, court records, and more. PRM is currently focused on providing these workshops in greater Minnesota.
PRM will be partnering with a variety of presenters (including attorneys, historians, and others) to deliver the workshop content. Open government activist Rich Neumeister will be presenting at the Duluth FOI event, and will share his four-decades worth of experience requesting public records.
