Reuters has run a story stating that Attorney General Eric Holder plans to describe the legal basis for the practice of “targeted killing” of American citizens by UAV drones. According to the article, Holder will present his comments at Northwestern University School of Law on March 5th.
In October of last year, PRM sought a legal opinion from the Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) related to drone killings. In December, we filed an administrative appeal after the OLC denied our FOIA request. In February, the ACLU filed a lawsuit seeking to challenge the denial of its own FOIA request related to the matter.
