Minnesota Government Data Practices Act request for records related to the use of UAV drones by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Letter of December 30, 2014 from PRM’s Matt Ehling to Commissioner Ramona Dohman of Minnesota DPS. Letter notifies DPS that it has not responded to PRM’s records request of November 8, 2013.

Letter of January 3, 2014 from E. Joseph Newton of Minnesota DPS to PRM’s Matt Ehling. Correspondence states that BCA does not have agreements with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (USDHS) to operate UAVs, and thus does not have data responsive to PRM’s November 8 request. Mr. Newton notes that BCA has requested the assistance of USDHS drones in several cases involving searches for marijuana grows on public lands.
